The 7th Wesleyan Revival Outreach
programme has ended with a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at the
Rev J. E. Allotey Pappoe Memorial Methodist Chapel, in the Accra New Town
Circuit of The Methodist Church Ghana.
The 3-day Outreach programme which came off from
June 16 - 18, 2022 at the Ascension Park, Kotobabi, Accra was organised by the
Evangelism, Mission and Renewal (EMR) Office of the Accra Diocese. It was on
the theme “Discipleship: Living the Transformed Life in Jesus Christ”.
Opening the Outreach programme, the Superintendent
Minister of the Accra New Town Circuit, the Very Rev Samson N. A. M
Laryea-Adjei prayed for a fertile ground to win souls for Christ.
The Chaplain of the Methodist University College
Ghana, the Very Rev Dr Samuel Nii Nmai Ollenu, who was the main speaker at the
Outreach programme, appealed to residents of the community to surrender their
lives to God, stressing, “God promises His ultimate protection over they who
come to Him”.
He elaborated on the need for salvation as the only
escape from the broad way, which he noted, ends in hell. “The more the
drunkenness, fornication, adultery and other social vices, the more you lose
your peace in life”, he warned, adding, “Jesus needs no changed heart but
welcomes us just as we are in our guilt of sin".
Scores of residents gave their lives to God in
response to an altar call by the Very Rev Dr Ollenu. Special prayers were said
for the new converts.
Thanksgiving Service
The Outreach programme ended with a Thanksgiving
Service organised at the various Societies within the Accra New Town Circuit.
At the J. E. Allotey Pappoe Memorial Methodist Chapel, congregants were asked
to “emancipate yourselves from mental slavery”. According to the Very Rev
Richmond Abaka, a Circuit Minister at the Dansoman Circuit, such a move will
set one free, iterating, “when Jesus sets you free, you are free indeed”.
He touched on the need to consistently engage in
evangelism and appealed for prioritisation of evangelism activities. “Evangelism
is a simple act because it can take place right where you are. For where you
find yourself most is your Jerusalem", he explained.
A special appeal was made to raise funds to support
evangelism activities in the Diocese.
