WE MUST ALL BECOME EVANGELISTS – BISHOP BORLABI BORTEY

Story: Emmanuel Ashong, Accra

The Methodist Bishop of Accra, the Rt Rev Emmanuel Borlabi Bortey has underscored the need for every Christian to become an evangelist towards spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to all people.

He was speaking at a joint Church Service of the Teshie Circuit of The Methodist Church Ghana held on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at the Teshie North Methodist School Park in Accra. The Service which brought together members from all the 10 Societies within the Circuit was a climax to a 3-day Wesleyan Revival Outreach organised by the Evangelism, Mission and Renewal Office of the Accra Diocese.

Touching on the significance of God’s invitation to all people to commune with Him, Bishop Borlabi Bortey prayed that, “May God make us all evangelists to witness Christ Jesus to others, not only in words but deeds”. He noted that “our lives must reflect people who have come to faith with Christ Jesus and have been transformed by His divine nature”, adding “when others see us, they must see Christ Jesus and His beauty in us”.

The Wesleyan Revival Outreach is an initiative of the Accra Diocese aimed at pursuing revival and growth in all the 24 Circuits with the Diocese.

The 4th edition of the Revival Outreach which was on the theme “Discipleship: Living the Transformed Life in Jesus Christ”, had the Superintendent Minister of the Nungua Circuit, the Very Rev George K. Affum, as the main speaker. He cautioned the congregants on the second coming of Jesus Christ noting, “It will be to judge the world and not to die again for mankind”.

Very Rev Affum disclosed that Jesus “whispers peace to every turbulent situation” and called on the afflicted to “come to Jesus for rest…He is calling you today”.

The Superintendent Minister of the Teshie Circuit, the Very Rev Seth Bentum Tackie, who did the liturgy at the joint Church Service, led the congregants in an intercessory prayer session.

The next Wesleyan Revival Outreach is scheduled for the Nungua Circuit.
