THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS CALLS FOR CHANGED LIVES, CHRISTIANS TOLD

Christians have been challenged to let the resurrection of Jesus be evident in their lives by living a new life in Him.

The call came from the Methodist Bishop of Accra Diocese, the Rt Rev Emmanuel Borlabi Bortey, during a sermon delivered at the 37 Military Hospital Methodist Presbyterian Church in Accra on Easter Sunday, April 09, 2023.

 “The Son of God who came to earth and was killed, He rose again…but above all, if the resurrection is true, you must experience it in your own life”, the Methodist cleric argued, explaining, “When you say I know, it’s an experiential knowledge, not head knowledge”.

According to him, “resurrection means new life in Jesus” and calls for a changed attitude among believers.

Speaking on the theme “The Resurrection of Jesus Gives Us Power and Victory Over Sin” with Ephesians 1:19-20 as his anchor text, the Rt Rev Borlabi Bortey noted that, “The power which raised Jesus from the dead, that power is at work for us who believe” adding, “No matter what you are going through,…there is a power of God at work on your behalf and what to men they say is impossible, to you God will make it possible.”

Congregants at the Easter Sunday Service, like Christians across the globe sung hymns of adoration to express their delight in what is commonly known among Christians as Resurrection Sunday, the day Jesus rose again from the dead.

The day also marked the launch of the 50^th Anniversary celebrations of the 37 Military Hospital Methodist Presbyterian Church. Established in 1973, the Church is an interdenominational Christian community made up Methodists, Presbyterians, Evangelical Presbyterians and adherents of other faiths. Congregants are mostly made up of military personnel and their families from El Wak Barracks, Flagstaff House, Police Barracks among others.  

Funds were raised to support the Church’s anniversary activities.
