REV ERNEST BRUCE MEMORIAL METHODIST HOSTS 'YES YOU CAN CONFERENCE'

In a bid to harness the God-given potential of young people, the Rev Ernest Bruce Memorial Methodist Church, Adabraka, has hosted a day’s conference to build the capacity of young people in the Church.

Dubbed the ‘Yes You Can Conference’, the programme which came off at the Church’s premises at Adabraka on May 06, 2023 was organised by the ‘Yes You & I Can Foundation’, an organisation established by a young Methodist couple. “The Foundation is dedicated to empowering young people to believe in themselves towards turning their dreams into realities” according to its Convener and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Jacobus Patterson.

Speaking at the maiden edition of the conference, Ghanaian playwright, author, and motivational speaker, Mr James Ebo Whyte, advised participants to open up to opportunities without any form of idleness. “Do not wait to be told twice what you are to do”, the artistic director and lead writer at Roverman Productions told participants who were mostly made up of young people and some parents.

Speaking on the theme, “Identifying Your Gifts”, Uncle Ebo Whyte, as he is popular known, charged young people to show up in humility, perseverance, patience and service as the process involved in achieving successfully dreams and passions.

A lecturer at the Trinity Theological Seminary, Legon, the Very Rev Dr Abraham Boateng challenged young people to be determined in achieving their set goals through God's plans. Citing his own humble beginnings, the Methodist Minister stressed that, "despite your place of birth, parents or educational level, God has a plan for your life.”

Other speakers at the Conference were Elder Amos Kevin-Annan, the immediate past Deputy Youth Director of The Church of Pentecost, and Mr Amartei Amartey, a Spoken Word Artiste.

Launching the ‘Yes You & I Can Foundation’, the Superintendent Minister of the Adabraka Circuit of The Methodist Church Ghana, the Very Rev Emmanuel N. A. Wellington was hopeful that the Foundation will achieve the purpose for which it was established.  

The Foundation aims at offering scholarships, skills, entrepreneurship, mentorship, and employment in the future.
