MAMPROBI SOUTH CIRCUIT CLOCKS 25 YEARS

The Mamprobi South Circuit of The Methodist Church Ghana is 25 years.

The Circuit which was inaugurated on February 28, 1998, following a decision by the 36th Annual Conference of The Methodist Church Ghana, held at Cape Coast in August 1997, has Gethsemane Society, Mamprobi as its Head. The Circuit presently consists of Gethsemane Society, the Rev I. K. Asuamah Thompson Memorial Society and two Preaching Posts at Zongo Junction and Chorkor Chemuenaa.

Rated a 'Grade A' Circuit in the Connexion, the Mamprobi South Circuit has been touted for its evangelistic and church planting exploits, that has seen the establishment of over ten Methodist Societies in the Accra, Winneba and Northern Accra Dioceses of the Church.

Some of these Societies include Asempa Society in the Winneba Diocese; the Rev J. W. deGraft-Johnson Memorial, Galilea, American Farm, Peace Town, and Mandela Societies all in the Northern Accra Diocese. The rest are Official Town, Iron City, South West McCarthy Hill, and Kuwait Societies which were ceded to the New Aplaku Circuit of the Accra Diocese in a re-demarcation exercise approved by the Methodist Conference.

The Circuit which has a total Christian Community of One Thousand Six Hundred and Eighty-Eight [1,688] members, has produced nine Methodist Ministers including the incumbent Director of Human Resource and Administration of The Methodist Church Ghana, the Very Rev Anthony O. Godwyll.

Celebrating these achievements and other successes chalked by the Circuit over its 25-year journey, the Immediate Past Presiding Bishop of The Methodist Church Ghana, the Most Rev Titus Kofi Awotwi Pratt, congratulated the Mamprobi South Circuit for the feat. He challenged members to let the Spirit of Christ and the five-fold spiritual gifts be evident in the life of the Church and its members, as a sign of maturity in Christ.

Reflecting on Ephesians 4:7-11, Most Rev Awotwi Pratt noted that, God gave some to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up, adding, “When the time comes for us to celebrate our 50th Anniversary, we should be able to boldly say that we see these marks of the Spirit in our Church.”

Most Rev Awotwi Pratt was speaking on behalf of the Presiding Bishop, the Most Rev Dr Paul Kwabena Boafo at a Thanksgiving Service organised by the Mamprobi South Circuit at the Gethsemane Methodist Chapel, Mamprobi on March 12, 2023 to climax the Circuit’s 25th Anniversary celebrations.

The Service which was attended by the Administrative Bishop, the Rt Rev Michael Agyakwa Bossman and the Methodist Bishops of Accra and Cape Coast Dioceses, the Rt Rev Emmanuel Borlabi Bortey and Rt Rev Richardson Aboagye Andam respectively, also had in attendance, some past Bishops of the Church as well as present and past Ministers stationed in the Circuit.

The Superintendent Minister of the Mamprobi South Circuit, the Rt Rev Daniel De-Graft Brace, led members, who were mostly clad in their 25th Anniversary cloth in prayers.

Funds were raised to support the Circuit’s activities.
