As Ghanaians prepare to join the rest of the world to celebrate Christmas, they have been told of an invasion Jesus makes in the lives of those who accept Him as their Saviour.

According to the Methodist Bishop of Accra Diocese, the Rt Rev Emmanuel Borlabi Bortey, “When we believe and accept Him [Jesus] as the Saviour, He comes, He invades our lives. He comes to make His home with us”.

“When He comes, you can never be the same. He brings a change”, Bishop Borlabi Bortey stressed.

The Methodist Bishop made the remarks at a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols organised by the Accra Diocese of the Church on December 21, 2022 at the Bishop's Manse, Dansoman - Accra.

The event which also served as the Diocese's annual end-of-year get-together, was attended by staff of the Diocesan Secretariat, past and serving leaders of the Church within the Diocese and members of the Diocesan Standing Committee among others.

Bishop Borlabi Bortey noted that “Jesus comes to save us from sin by giving us new birth” explaining, “Unless that newness, that transformation, that renewal takes place, it is not possible to live the Christian life”.

“Every human being needs this change. This is how we preach the Christ. When He is born in us, He brings that renewal. He gives us the grace to say no to unrighteousness. It comes by the grace of God and we’re able to resist sin and Satan”, Bishop Borlabi Bortey added.

The programme saw the reading of Bible lessons on the birth of Jesus and the essence of Christmas. The Accra Diocesan Staff Choir ministered various Christmas carols. Also in attendance was the evergreen Accra Diocesan Choir, who rendered melodious Christmas songs – drawing participants to their feet in praise and thanksgiving to God.

The event was climaxed with a feast for participants.
