IF YOU ARE A CHRISTIAN, LET YOUR LIFE SHOW – MOST REV AWOTWI PRATT

Story: Emmanuel Ashong, Accra

Christians have been challenged to let their lives demonstrate their faith in Christ Jesus.

The call was made by the Immediate Past Presiding Bishop of The Methodist Church Ghana, the Most Rev Titus Kofi Awotwi Pratt at an Induction Service held on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at the Wesley Cathedral, Palladium – Accra.

The Service saw the induction of Connexional Officers of the Christ’s Little Band under the leadership of its new Chairman, Opanyin Samuel Ohene Adjepong Sarpong.

Exhorting congregants at the Induction Service, Most Rev Awotwi Pratt challenged Christians to live a transformed life that reflects the life of Jesus Christ. “If you’re a Christian, let your life show that you are”, he admonished.

Pointing to his ministerial vestment, the immediate past head of the Wesleyan fraternity in Ghana noted, “What I’m wearing never makes me a Christian; neither does it make me a Minister; not even make me a Presiding Bishop” adding, “If my performance doesn’t fit what I’m wearing, then I’m, an actor. On the stage, I’ll act, after my scene I’ll remove what I’m wearing. But as a Christian, whether you’re wearing it or not, your behaviour in society tells the type of church you belong to.”

Reiterating his call for a transformed life, Most Rev Awotwi Pratt said, “You must be recognised in society for what and who you are” quizzing, “Are we Christians by mouth or Christians in deed?” He urged members to be faithful to their Christian calling and keep their lives above reproach.

Most Rev Awotwi Pratt, who inducted the new officer into office on behalf of the Presiding Bishop, the Most Rev Dr Paul Kwabena Boafo, charged them to work towards the transformation of the Band during their tenure of office. He called on members to pray for the new leadership, explaining “when we pray for leaders in position, and they perform satisfactorily, all of us benefit.”

The new executive body has Sis Elizabeth Asian Acquaah as Vice Chairman; Opanyin Eric Acquah Sampson, Immediate Past Chairman; Bro Abraham N. K. Odoom, Secretary and Sis Rita Kwarteng as Assistant Secretary. The rest are Bro Lawrence Arhinful Sackey, Treasurer; Bro John B. S. Addo, Organising Secretary; Bro Albert N. Y. Larnyoh, Evangelism Coordinator; Sis Mary Arthur, Executive Member and the Very Rev Charles Kofi Sam, Chaplain.

The Service was attended by the Lay President, Bro William Orleans Oduro [Esq]; the Methodist Bishop of Accra Diocese, the Rt Rev Emmanuel Borlabi Bortey; the Lay Chairman and Synod Secretary of Accra Diocese, Bro Joseph Eduam and the Very Rev Mrs Doris Saah respectively. Also present was the Director of Lay Ministries of the Church, the Very Rev Amos Justice Pobee and other General Directors, Directors, and past Officers of the Church.
