HEAVEN IS FOR THE RIGHTEOUS, NOT CHURCH GOERS – VERY REV ABAKA
Posted on Wednesday December 14, 2022Story: Emmanuel Ashong, Chorkor
Christians
have been reminded that heaven is a place reserved for the righteous and not church
goers.
The
Very Rev Richmond Abaka, Accra Diocesan Coordinator for Evangelism, Mission and
Renewal, who made the call believes that, “Those of us in church who do not
have a personal relationship with God, no matter what we do in the house of
God, if we do not know Him and follow His Word, forget it, forget ever going to
heaven”.
Very
Rev Abaka was speaking at a 3-day Wesleyan Revival Outreach programme organised
at the Saban Park, Chorkor in Accra. The programme which took place from December
08 – 10, 2022 was hosted by the Accra Diocese of The Methodist Church Ghana in collaboration
with the Mamprobi South Circuit of the Church.
Aimed
at winning souls for Christ, the Wesleyan Revival Outreach caravan has since January
2022 travelled through various Circuits in the Accra Diocese on the theme “Discipleship:
Living the Transformed Life in Jesus Christ”.
The
twentieth edition saw members of the Gethsemane and Rev I. K. Asuamah Thompson Memorial
Societies rally for soul-winning in the Chorkor Chemuenaa community in Accra.
Very
Rev Abaka who was the main speaker at the three-day revival outreach appealed to
residents to give their lives to Jesus Christ explaining, “Those who have
accepted Christ, they have the passport to heaven”.
He
disclosed that salvation is available to all people who avail themselves
stressing, “For salvation, it is neither here nor there. There is no ethnic
consideration. Anyone who surrenders to the Lord, He will accept and save him
from sin”.
Many
residents gave their lives to God. Special prayers were said for the nation, children,
the unmarried and pregnant women.
The
programme was attended by the Methodist Bishop of Accra Diocese, the Rt Rev Emmanuel
Borlabi Bortey as well as the Superintendent Minister of the Mamprobi South Circuit,
the Rt Rev Daniel De-Graft Brace. With them were the Very Rev Mrs Naana Esi Dannyame
and the Rev Richard Bradley Foli, both Ministers serving in the Mamprobi South Circuit.
