ACCRA SYNOD ENDS WITH THANKSGIVING SERVICE

The 61st Annual Synod of the Accra
Diocese of The Methodist Church Ghana has ended with a Thanksgiving Service on
Sunday, May 01, 2022.
The 5-day Synod which took place at the Joseph
Afotey Aku-Boye Memorial Methodist Chapel, Teshie North from April 27 – May 01,
2022 was on the theme “Discipleship: Living the Transformed Life in Jesus
Christ”.
Church Services were held at all Methodist Chapels
in the Accra Diocese to thank God for a successful Synod. There was an exchange
of pulpit – a term used to describe the exchange of Ministers in the Diocese among
the various Societies to among others, share the word of God and convey the key
outcomes of Synod to members of the Church.
The Diocesan Executive made up of the Bishop, the
Rt Rev Emmanuel Borlabi Bortey, the Lay Chairman, Sis Agatha Nana Ama Ennin
Osei and the Synod Secretary, the Very Rev Victor B. B. Boyetey worshiped at
the Joseph Afotey Aku-Boye Memorial Methodist Chapel, Teshie North. They were
joined by other members of Synod including the Accra Diocesan Lay
Chairman-elect, Bro Joseph Eduam, a Past Lay President of the Church, Bro Prof
Ato Essuman, the Accra Diocesan Honorary Treasurer, Bro Jacob Bright Donkor and
the Superintendent Minister of the Teshie Circuit, the Very Rev Seth Bentum
Tackie.
Bishop Borlabi Bortey preached a sermon on the
theme “Jesus Christ, Our Salvation” and noted salvation is the foundation of eternal
life adding “There is no gift greater than the gift of eternal life in Jesus Christ”.
Briefing congregants on the major outcomes of Synod,
the Lay Chairman gave highlights of the Presiding Bishop’s and the Diocesan
Bishop’s Addresses to Synod respectively. She also informed congregants of the
election of Bro Eduam as the next Lay Chairman of the Diocese to take office
from October 01, 2022. She thanked the Teshie Circuit for successfully hosting
the Synod and prayed for God’s blessing upon its Ministers and members.
The Minister in-Charge of the host Society, the
Very Rev Samuel Adjei Annan led a fund raising exercise to support the Synod. The
Member of Parliament for the Ledzokuku Constituency, Mr Benjamin Narteh Ayiku
congratulated the Church for a successful Synod and encouraged members to be
each other’s keeper.
