The Accra Diocese of The Methodist Church Ghana has held a special fund raising Service to mobilise support for the Methodist Development Fund [MDF].

The Fund which was established over a decade ago is aimed at mobilising resources for church growth as well as providing support for underprivileged Societies and Methodist institutions in the Connexion.

MDF has over the years supported the construction of manses, places of worship, rehabilitation of Methodist educational institutions, maintenance of health facilities and church planting activities. The Fund has spent a total of GHS 3,464,928 on various projects in 2022.

As part of efforts to create awareness and mobilise support for the Fund, special fund raising Services are organised annually across the Connexion.

This year's connexional event which is the fourteenth edition, took place at the Calvary Methodist Cathedral, Wenchi in the Wenchi Diocese of The Methodist Church Ghana on November 27, 2022.

The Accra Diocesan MDF Awareness Day and Special Fund Raising Service came-off at the Bread of Life Methodist Chapel, Dansoman on November 27, 2022 with the Diocesan Bishop, the Rt Rev Emmanuel Borlabi Bortey as the chief officiant.

Congregants at the Society were joined by officials from the Accra Diocese as well as representatives from the 24 Circuits within the Diocese.

In a message read on his behalf by the Accra Diocesan Lay Chairman, the Presiding Bishop of The Methodist Church Ghana, the Most Rev Dr Paul Kwabena Boafo noted that, "This year 2022 has particularly been a difficult year for everybody" and urged members to "make time to reflect on the faithfulness of God to the Church and the impact that the Fund [MDF] has made in our effort to build a strong Methodist Church and institutions in Ghana".

Touching on the theme for this year's event, "Discipleship: Living the Transformed Life in Jesus Christ", Most Rev Dr Boafo said, "Living the Transformed Life in Jesus should strengthen our resolve to build on the rich and enviable history of the Methodist Church as being a leading evangelical force in our nation's holistic development".

He disclosed that "the Methodist Development Fund will continue to be the key in our mobilisation strategies" towards the Church’s agenda.

The Synod Secretary of the Accra Diocese, the Very Rev Mrs Doris Saah, led a fund raising exercise that realised GHS 22,000 from congregants.

Similar Fund Raising Services were held in all Societies with the Diocese and across the Connexion.
