ACCRA DIOCESAN SINGING BAND GETS NEW OFFICERS

A Church Service has been held at the Macedonia Methodist Chapel, Kwashieman, on January 22, 2022, to induct into office, new Officers of the Accra Diocesan Singing Band.

The induction which was conducted by the Methodist Bishop of the Accra Diocese, the Rt Rev Emmanuel Borlabi Bortey was attended by the Accra Diocesan Lay Chairman, Bro Joseph Eduam and the Accra Diocesan Synod Secretary, the Very Rev Mrs Doris Saah.

The 15-member executive body is led by Bro Charles Fiifi Acheampong as the Diocesan Chairman and assisted by Bro Isaac Kwame Mensah as Vice-Chairman. The body also includes Bro Kingsford Yaw Mensah, Immediate Past Chairman; Bro Jacob Bondzie Abbey, Director of Music; Bro Alex Arhin, First Deputy Director of Music; Bro Claude Gracious Ennin, Second Deputy Director of Music, Sis Gifty Aba El-Aschkar, Secretary and Sis Phyllis Esi Hammond Ennin, Assistant Secretary.

The rest are Bro Stephen Amugyah, Treasurer; Bro Moses Kwaku Darkwah, Organiser; Sis Deborah Bondzie, Evangelism Coordinator; Bro Evans Fiifi Forson, Sis Linda Fynn-Carr and Sis Gertrude Biney-Appo, all Co-opted members; and the Very Rev Daniel Kpabitey, Chaplain.

Speaking at the Induction Service, the Connexional President of the Singing Band, Bro Kojo Poku Afrani disclosed that, “Ours is to mobilise people to sing to the praise of His name for edification of the saints and for the healing and strengthening of the broken hearted.”

He charged the new officers to render faithful service, noting, “Your call to service demands the fear of God, dedication, respect, sacrifice of time and your willingness to contribute your resources for the advancement of God’s work”, and prayed that “May the Lord grant you the grace to be available for His service”.

Bishop Borlabi Bortey urged members to eschew undue criticism of the new officers but rather pray for them and their families to succeed at the task they have been assigned by the Singing Band.

In a sermon entitled “Prepared to Preach the Gospel”, the Methodist Bishop cautioned congregants to not just proclaim their faith but also back it with righteous living, explaining “God calls us to do everything as unto the Lord. Wherever you find yourself, whatever service you are doing, do it first and foremost as what you are doing to God.”

The new officers will serve a 3-year term of office.
