ACCRA DIOCESAN SECRETARIAT SENDS-OFF 5 VETERAN STAFF

A Send-Off Service has been organised for five
veteran staff of the Accra Diocesan Secretariat of The Methodist Church Ghana
on Thursday, June 30, 2022.
The five, Mr Martin Asante, Mr Yakubu Zakari, Mr
Emmanuel Nkansah, Mr Enoch Allotey Acquaye and Mr Anthony Ghansah have altogether
served the Diocese between 15 - 25 years in various capacities.
Mr Asante and Mr Nkansah served for 25 years and 18
years respectively as security officers, whiles Mr Zakari was engaged for 20
years in security and later sanitation portfolios. Mr Acquaye who was first
employed in 2005 as a Factory Hand at the Accra Diocesan Moringa Factory and
later to the position of a Horticulturalist served for 17 years. Mr Ghansah on
the other hand was attached to the Youth Development Ministry and recently the
Communication and Publications Office as a chauffeur for 15 years.
Addressing the retirees at the brief ceremony which
was organised at the Accra Diocesan Secretariat in Dansoman, the Methodist
Bishop of Accra, the Rt Rev Emmanuel Borlabi Bortey told the retirees, “You are
going with Jesus…place your hope in the Lord” adding “none of you should panic
as Jesus captains your ship”. He encouraged them with the Book of Psalms not to
put their trust in man but to “focus on the God of Jacob" adding “it is
this God who lifts up the heads of the righteous and sustains the fatherless”.
The retirees were presented with unspecified cheque
amounts which were jointly presented on behalf of the Diocese by Mr Jacob Bright
Donkor, the Honorary Diocesan Treasurer and Mrs Christina Amoba Adjei, the
Greater Accra Regional Manager of Methodist Schools.
Speaking on behalf of the retirees, Mr Nkansah
expressed profound gratitude to the Diocese for a good working relationship
over their period of service.
A representative of the staff, Mrs Doris Nelson,
recounted some good working relationship with their retiring colleagues and
thanked them for their long years of service.
The occasion was also used to send-off Mr Simon
Nassadin who is on secondment to the Tamale Diocese to serve the Tatale Nursery
Society as a Caretaker. Until his transfer, Mr Nassadin served the Diocese for
12 years as a Dispatch Clerk, assisting with administrative activities.
