ACCRA DIOCESAN MYF HOLDS ‘EASTER WITH THE LORD’

Story: Emmanuel Ashong, New Aplaku

The Accra Diocesan branch of the Methodist Youth Fellowship [MYF] has embarked on an evangelism outreach to observe this year’s Easter festivities.

Dubbed ‘Easter With The Lord’ [EWTL], the 4-day annual evangelism drive which started on April 06, 2023, took over 200 young people to the New Aplaku Circuit of The Methodist Church Ghana to reach out to residents with the Word of God.

The eighth in the series, this year’s EWTL witnessed an unprecedented collaboration between the Youth Fellowship, the Korle Bu and Accra Technical University Locals of the Ghana Methodist Students’ Union [GHAMSU], the Methodist Girls’ Fellowship and the Evangelism, Mission and Renewal [EMR] Office of the Accra Diocese.

The Accra Diocesan Youth Organiser, the Rev Edward Niikwei Okine, hailed the collaboration as a very positive development and expressed the hope that “successive years will be even more marvelous.”

The 2023 edition of EWTL was primarily aimed at strengthening churches planted in the New Aplaku Circuit during previous editions of the evangelism outreach programme. Participants pitched camp at recently planted churches at ‘Aglow Farms’, ‘Seaview’ and ‘Mr Obeng Red Top’, all suburbs of New Aplaku to encourage members as well as strengthen their faith in God.

“Members’ enthusiasm was raised and new members joined the church”, Financial Secretary with the Youth Fellowship, Bro Prince Debra-Hammond, told this reporter.

Members of MYF, GHAMSU and MGF embarked on dawn broadcasts, house-to-house evangelism, street evangelism, medical outreaches and crusades to drum home the salvation message in an area which has been declared a mission field by the Accra Diocese.

Participants expressed fulfillment in the exercise and looked forward to the next edition with “much anticipation and zeal.”
