ACCRA DIOCESAN MMISPA, GENDER OFFICE DONATE TO FOUNDATION

Story: Emmanuel Ashong, Dansoman

The Methodist Ministers’ Spouses Association (MMISPA) in collaboration with the Gender and Family Life Office of the Accra Diocese has made a donation of assorted items and unspecified amount of money to the Freedom House Foundation.

The items which included bags of rice, cooking oil, beans, spaghetti, tomato paste, beverages, detergents and other sanitary materials were presented by the Methodist Bishop of Accra, the Rt Rev Emmanuel Borlabi Bortey at a short ceremony held at the Bishop’s Manse at Dansoman on October 25, 2022. He was assisted by the Accra Diocesan President of MMISPA, Sis Abigail Bortey and the Accra Diocesan Coordinator for Gender and Family Life, Sis Rebecca Nettey.

The Foundation which is based in Fianko, a community near Bawjiase in the Awutu-Senya District of the Central Region provides care for orphans and needy children. They also train widows and single parents in handy-works like beads-making and soap-making and have a facility for shelter and education from Nursery to Class 4.

The donation follows an earlier visit by the Rt Rev and Mrs Bortey to the Foundation.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Foundation, Bro Solomon Asante, the Secretary of the Freedom House Foundation, expressed appreciation to MMISPA and the Gender and Family Life Office for their kind gesture. “We say God bless you so much. We are praying that may the Grace of God abound for you”, Bro Asante added. He was accompanied by Bro Justice Appiah, a teacher with the Foundation.

Established in 2018, the Foundation presently has 48 beneficiaries with the youngest being 5 months old and the oldest at age 21.

Bro Asante appealed for more support for the Foundation in the form of learning materials like books, pencils, erasers, slates, chalks as well as food items.
